Home Learning

Reading

I have been delighted with the progress the children have made with their reading. However, to maintain that progress, it is still really important that the children are reading at least three times a week to an adult at home. If they are using the Accelerated Reader programme, it would be great if the children could quiz their books more regularly so they feel a sense of achievement and so I can more accurately assess their understanding of their books. Please could they bring their reading books in everyday, so they can access any opportunities to read/quiz. Thank you for your continued support with this.

Maths

  • Practise counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s
  • Practise counting in 3s, 4s, 8s and 50s
  • Take part in any practical maths around the home, e.g. cooking, measuring and money
  • Adding and subtracting numbers using mental strategies, e.g. their fingers
  • Home learning multiplication and division facts.
  • Times Table Rockstars

Outdoor learning

The class will be participating in outdoor learning each week. Please ensure they have outdoor shoes and a waterproof coat in school every day. For outdoor learning, they will need waterproof trousers and wellies. This can be left on their peg all week.

P.E

Our P.E days this term have changed to Thursdays (this will start from w/c 26th February) and Fridays. The children can wear PE kit to school on those days. Please can they wear or bring a hoodie to wear in PE.  If they are attending an after school sports club, they will need to bring in their PE kit to change into after school.

Parent consultations

Year 3 parent consultations will be on Tuesday 5th March, 2.00 – 6.00pm and Thursday 7th March, 3.15 – 6.00pm. We are trialling a new system of booking appointments, so please look out for a link on Class Dojo which will explain how to do this.

Please don’t hesitate to email me or arrange an appointment to see me if you have any concerns about your child or their work. My email address is juliette@stoke-climsland.cornwall.sch.uk or contact me on Class Dojo.

Thank you for your support,
