Reading

It has been amazing to see some of the progress the children have made in the last term. We have had lots of quizzing of books going on which is fantastic to see. Moreover, some children have now moved from their phonic groups to VIPERS and spelling lessons in the classroom. This means that they will be able to access our Accelerated Reader programme (AR). This means that they will take an online reading test which will then give them a reading level. They then choose books within their level and quiz on them after reading. The quizzing is fun and it can make reading more enjoyable for reluctant readers. Please continue listening to your child read at home and I thank you for your support with this.

Maths

  • Practise counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s
  • Practise counting in 3s, 4s, 8s and 50s
  • Practice multiplication and division facts for 2x, 4x and 8x table.
  • Take part in any practical maths around the home, e.g. cooking, measuring and money
  • Adding and subtracting numbers using mental strategies, e.g. their fingers

Outdoor Learning

The class will be participating in outdoor learning each week this term. Please ensure they have outdoor shoes and a waterproof coat in school every day. For outdoor learning, they will need waterproof trousers and wellies. This can be left on their peg all week.

P.E

Our P.E days this term are Thursday and Friday. The children can wear PE kit to school on those days.

Parent consultations are next week (Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th November) If you cannot attend at these times but would still like to urgently discuss and issues then I can offer a phone call for those who cannot attend. We may just have to arrange a time that we both can manage.

My email address is twoodhall@stoke-climsland.cornwall.sch.uk or contact me on Class Dojo.

Thank you for your support,
