Class 3 Spring 2 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely and restful half term. It has been wonderful to see the children return to school so positively and ready to learn as we begin the second half of the Spring term. We have lots of exciting learning planned and I’m looking forward to a fantastic few weeks with the class.

In Geography, we will be starting an exciting new topic all about Mountains. The children will explore how mountains are formed, learn about famous mountains around the world, and discover the fascinating story of the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest. I’m sure this will spark lots of curiosity and great discussions in class.

In English, we will be reading our new class book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. As this is such a popular story, if you happen to have a copy at home, please could your child bring in a named copy to keep in school for daily reading. Our writing focus over the next few weeks will be non-chronological reports, where the children will learn how to organise information clearly and present facts effectively.

Reading continues to be incredibly important, so please keep encouraging regular reading at home. Most importantly, we want children to enjoy books and develop a real love of reading. We will continue to support them in quizzing and choosing books appropriate to their level.

In Maths, we will be focusing on multiplication and division. The children will continue practising their 3 and 4 times tables, while also beginning to learn the 8 times table. We will also be introducing more formal written methods of multiplication and developing a deeper understanding of the concept of division. Regular practice at home with times tables really helps to build confidence – songs, Times Tables Rock Stars and other fun games are great ways to improve recall.

PE will remain on Fridays. As we move further into the term, we are hoping to make the most of outdoor learning opportunities if the weather becomes more settled. Please make sure your child brings a coat to school every day and that they have outdoor shoes or wellies in school at all times.

A reminder that World Book Day is on 5th March. Please see the recent post on Class Dojo for further information.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch via dojo. I’m really looking forward to a great half term ahead with the children.

Warm regards,

Mrs Hunter
